![]() Red Shouldered Hawk This bird moved in a few months ago and has since declared this post as his favorite hang out spot. Hopefully he is here to hunt mice. |
![]() Eastern
Cottontail Rabbit
There are at least two familes of rabbits living around us. Our Jack Russel Terrier has broken up a mating dance between two rabbits on more than one occasion. |
|
![]() Great Blue Heron We see this heron on ocassion around the pond looking to snag a fish. |
Brown headed Cowbird These birds hang around the horses, usually at their feet. This one decided to go for a little ride on the back of Messenger of Light. |

![]() Barn Swallows During most summers, at least three pairs of barn swallows make a home in, well, the barn. Though, this pair didn't get the memo and set up shop right outside our front door. All the swallows around the farm have used loose horse hair as bedding for their mud nets. |
![]() Bloodworm We found this creature in one of the many puddles around the fields. I am told they make great fish bait. Horrible looking creature isn't? |
|
![]() Common barn spider Whatever they are, they pop up by the dozens in the barn when the barn flies come out. |
![]() Black Snake While running back to the house to call the vet to tell him we had a foal born overnight, this little guy poped up between me and the house. It is not, I repeat, not a cottonmouth. Cottonmouths are more brownish in color. |
